About the role
Within this Oracle and Java Applications Developer role, you’ll initially be working on supporting our transformation programme by delivering information to desktops for around 1,100 end users across 2 sites where system enhancements are being developed and updated and; providing data for MI projects.You’ll be developing applications and interfaces â€" both internal and 3 rd parties â€" for insurance applications in Oracle and Java.The current work includes developing using PL/SQL. Stored procedures, web! services and using ESBs.You’ll be joining a small team of d! evelopers who go deep to deliver across a wide range of areas.
You’ll be managing the projects through their lifecycle, including supporting live issues on a number of large and small scale projects, which means adapting and moving between tasks quickly, as and when your expertise is needed.You’ll be mixing innovative thinking with tried and tested approaches and using your effective questioning and communication skills to solve problems and drive out new solutions by working closely with users and project teams.
What we’ll need from you
This is a great role for someone who’s in their 2 nd or 3 rd Oracle or Java Applications Developer role and looking to develop their existing capability within Oracle and Java.
You’ll be someone who learns quickly in order to be able to pick up an understanding of our data architecture and applications and easily draw on your experience of developing in Oracle and Java, including Oracle databases and PL/SQL develop! ment.You’ll have successfully implemented at least two commercial software applications and have practical skills in at least two of the following tools: Java Swing, JSP, Servlets, Web Services, Spring framework, JDeveloper and Eclipse.
Being multi-skilled in Oracle and Java is an advantage as well as having experience of new technologies.
